While attempting to enumerate service accounts using the ADMT v2 tools I'm
getting the following error on a few of my servers.

2005-03-21 16:49:47 CopyFile(C:\Program
Files\ADMT\\McsDmMsg.dll,\\computername.domainname.com\C$\Program
Files\OnePointDomainAgent\McsDmMsg.dll) rc=1224 The requested operation

performed on a file with a user-mapped section open.

\\computername.domainname.com, hr=800704c8 The requested operation

What does this mean and how can I correct it?

Hi Richard,

Thanks for posting!

Based on the description, I would like to provide you with the following
information for your reference:

1.) Verify the target computers have the C$ and ADMIN$ shares created.

2.) Verify that the account you are using to run ADMT is logged on with an
account that has access to the C$ and ADMIN$ share on the target machine
(the account you are trying to migrate.)

3.) Verify that you can create a file on C$ and down the path.

4.) See if there are any remnants of a previously attempted migration (look
for the MCSDMSG.DLL file.)

5.) If it is there - see if you can delete it. If you cannot delete it, try
to rename it. If successful, then re-attempt the migration.

I hope my information helps. If there is anything that is unclear, please
feel free to let me know.

Thanks & Regards,

Jason Tan

Thank you for the prompt response.

Something was holding the McsDmMsg.dll file open. I was able to get
around the problem by renaming the folder.

Evening;

I have the same error happening on my laptop when I log into.

"the requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a
user-mapped section open."

I am not a technically savy person.

Hello,

Thank you for your post.

I'm not quite sure about the exact issue. Please help answer the following
questions before we go further.

1. Please copy and post back the whole error messages when the issue
occurred.

2. Please describe it in detail what operation you had done when the issue
occurred.

3. Please tell me what version of ADMT tool did you use for the migration.

4. I notice that in the original thread of "The requested operation cannot
be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open", the resolution is
to rename McsDmMsg.dll file. Have you ever tried this and did this solution
help?

Thanks again for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Neo Zhu,

Hello,

Thank you for the reply.

I'd like to confirm the following questions first:

1. Did you receive this error message after you perform some operation? If
so, please describe the operations that you performed and the environment
in detail.

2. Are you using ADMT for migration?

3. Please tell me the operating system version on your laptop and whether
you have installed the latest Windows Service Pack on it.

4. If you received the error message just after you logon Windows without
doing any other operations, please try to perform a clean boot and check
whether the issue occurs under clean boot:

Please do as follows:

1. Click Start->Run...->type msconfig and press Enter
2. Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services and Disable
All third party Services.
3. Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items
4. Click OK and choose Restart
5. After reboot, check whether the problem still occurs

Please let me know the result after you finish the test.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Smile
