My C drive is running low on space on my 2003 server. The HD has 55GB free.
I tried using DISKPART to try and extend the C drive from 12GB to 30GB, but
I get an error that the volume may not be extended. Other than 3rd party
software like Server Magic, is there a way to extend the System partition?

You may find that there is not enough free space on a certain partition.
For example, you want to enlarge C: drive, which usually is Windows
system drive. EASEUS Partition Manager Personal lets you free enlarge or
reduce a partition in Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server(Only Server Edition)
without destroying data easily.

You should release you disk to make your computer run
faster. However,Windows 2000 and XP do not do everything that more
popular software do. By the way, Win9x operating systems even do not
have a graphical partition manager and its users have to rely on the
complicated fdisk program which is too much difficult for them. We have
to turn to some soft ware to help us. EASEUS Partition Manager win a lot
of applause in partition management. You can also have a try yourself by
download it:http://www.easeus.com/download.htm.Share with us your
feeling about it after you have a try. I believe it will astonish you.

To expand/extend system boot partition and increase its free space, in Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003 era is very difficult to do, because their Disk Management did not provide the functions of the extending partition or shrinking partition, this would have to use third-party tools such as Partition Magic, Disk Director, and other partition management software to accomplish the extending volume.

Hi,
Honestly I would suggest to install the operating system or a larger hard drive partition size and use any third-party tool to extend the volume or partition. I've seen too many things in the past more than one client tries these tools, which have led, however, install the operating system to resolve the problem.
