It is comforting to know that installation of SBS2008 and SQL 2008 on
separate VM's looks to be a viable solution as per the "SBS 2008 Premium
version and SQL" topic below (03 Dec 2008). The answer to Zaz's question re:
UPS suggests a further question re: backup software and use of COM/USB
based devices. We use Symantec Backup Exec for SBS... if this is installed
within the SBS2008 VM will it be able to read/write to a streaming tape
device attached to the host (i.e. the Windows Seever 2008) hardware?
Thx,
KB.

Charlie Russel answered to previous post (below):

"no, it won't see the streaming tape device."

Thx Charlie.

In order to use streaming tape SBS2008 must not be installed in a VM.

Cheers,
KB.

It is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions and also supports a maximum of four processors. The Standard edition can be purchased with or without Hyper-V virtualization. If the version with virtualization is purchased, it also comes with five Client Access Licenses (CALs). It is worth noting that Hyper-V is only available with 64-bit editions of Server 2008. One virtual instance can be configured with the Standard edition.
