Hi Elizabeth,
Sorry, I only just saw this now as I was googling some other threads!
I'm sure it's not much use to you now but these are results of the
migration which needed a lot of work as I recall.
Firstly, I tried several times to upgrade the SBS version of NT Server
4.0 to a standard version of NT4.0 so I could use the ADMT tool. The
key of course was trying to create a trusts between domains in the SBS
version of NT4.0. I tried going to SBS4.5 and then to standard NT4.0.
Still no joy.
Anyway, long story short, I basically ended up creating an entirely new
domain on the server and used the ex-merge tool to import the mailboxes
which worked pretty well. The users and mailboxes, shares etc had to
be setup manually beforehand. I also didn't avoid the problem of
having to hit each desktop to create a new profile. VNC and a tool
from Bozteck helped though.
So anyway, my solution wasn't pretty but there it is. I spend weeks
trying to get a trust between the 2 domains in order to use ADMT but it
just wasn't having it. Trust M$!
I'm sure you found a much more elegant way to acheive the result. I'd
be interested to know if you did, it's crazy the amount of customers
who are still on NT4...
