I don't get an error message.
During the options, it produces a folder called "exmerge-kbowhill" but
when I select finish it dissappears.

When I run Exmerge, it says 'completed, errors were encountered...."

The log file is not up to date. The last entry was for the 21 Nov

Yes the exchange feature 'appears' to be enabled.
The 'features' in the profile are the same as everyone else and
'exchange general' shows the mailbox.
Under Exchange manager his mailbox appears (but with the 'disconnected
x')

Sorry I thought I mentioned early on that it was a disconnected
mailbox.

Using AD I set up a new user 'temptemp'
Under Exchange System Manager I ran 'Cleanup'
Right clicked on KBowhill (the orphaned mailbox) and added temptemp as
object name.
I got an error (c1034ad7) telling me that This LegacyExchangeDN value
is already being used by CN=Keith Bowhill

I created a new user called temptemp without a mailbox.
This was in 'mybusiness - Users - SBSUsers'

Dear Charles,

Thank you again for your kind assistance.
In the end I was able to log in via OWA as bowhill, and view the emails
to which I could then forward.

The issue is now resolved - yippee !

Thank you very much indeed for your kindest assistance, I really do
appreciate it.

I simply visited our internal IP/exchange
logged in with the users username and password (which I reset).
I could then see the e-mails.
I then forwarded those e-mails to myself.

Once they arrived I forwarded them to his normal SMTP account and bob's
your uncle.
A little long winded.

Thank you very much indeed Charles for your help. It really is
appreicated.

Hello,
I came across this thread while researching a similar problem.
I'll save the very long back story and just state the current facts.

1. I created a new mailbox and user ID in ADUC for my CEO
2. His old account is deleted and gone. I don't want or need to get
the account back.
3. His old mailbox is still on the server with a red X on it. I
simply need to get back into the mailbox so that I can get the Contacts
out of it.
4. Both mailboxes show up in ESM as "Steve Smith"
5. Both mailboxes were likely associated with alias "ssmith" at one
time or another.
6. I read this thread and attempted to make a new Temp user without
mailbox and then reconnect the mailbox to that temp user.
7. I get this error when I try that.
/O=DOMAIN/OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=SSMITH
This legacyExchangeDN value is already being used by 'CN=Steve
Smith,OU=Users,OU=XXXXXX,DC=DOMAIN,DC=com'.
Facility: Exchange System Manager
ID no: c1034ad7

I don't care what it takes, I have got to get his contacts restored. I
negotiate for my transition from contract to full time tomorrow and I'd
rather not do that right after I tell him I've lost all of his
contacts.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
