Hello all,

I am relativly new to Exchange and SBS2003.

I have an orphaned mailbox which I would like to reconnect to an
exisiting user.
I right click on the orphaned mailbox, choose reconnect, and type in my
username.

However I get an error telling me I can't use that, or it doesn't
exist.
I even tried adding a new user and locating that, but still nothing.

Any help or advise would be most appreciated.

A huge thank you for your kind support.
Alas I thought the solution lied in your e-mail. I didn't realise I
couldn't reconnect to an existing mailbox.

I created a new user (temp) without a mailbox.
Did as above, right=clicked on reconnect and typed in the username
'temp' of my new created user. I get the following error box:

/O=ACOLYTE/OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=KBOWHILL
This legacyExchangeDN value is already being used by 'CN=Keith
Bowhill,OU=SBSUsers,OU=Users,OU=mybusiness,DC=Acolyte,DC=local'.

Facility: Exchange System Manager
ID no: c1034ad7
Exchange System Manager

Bowhill is the user who's mailbox I wish to redirect.
Why? Well he is a offsite staff member who should recieve e-mails from
the company etc. We added him as a user, but entered his own domain
e-mail to the e-mail field in his profile. This didn't work, so I
created a 'contact' with a SMTP address. Then told his profile to
redirect mail to that address. However, it still leaves 35 old e-mails
in his mailstore.

Umm.... it hasn't actually solved the problem.
I have gone into Server Management, Selected user, properties, forward
e-mail to my account.
However it hasn't transferred the 35 sitting in his mailbox.

Is it possible to forward those sat in his mailbox to mine?

The user hasn't checked his e-mails so there won't be any deleted, read
etc. They should all be in the inbox.

I downloaded Exmerge to the server desktop, and ran it from there.
However got an error saying exchmem.dll was missing.
I redownloaded the program with the same result.

Ok I copied the .dll into the desktop/exchmerge folder (where I
extracted the programe) and it works fine.
However: I export the pst (which it reports the error below)
It doesn't report an error when I try to import it into a mailbox (via
step2), nor when I do it from a local outlook session.
But nothing appears.

Would it be anything to do with the ANSI / Unicode pst file? How do I
know which version I have, and covert it?

Hiya,

I do log on as administrator but through Remote Desktop.
I checked those settings and the adminstrator does have read/send
access.

Hello,

Hope you had a good weekend. So the trouble persists Smile
I copied the Excmerge files into the bin folder, checked those services
were active. Exchange event was on manual, and I started this service.
Ran the merge programe exported a pst file (but it reported errors
again).
I imported the file via merge but nothing.

How can I change the read/send access?

Thank you for your help.
Ok I have added a group ExMerge with access to the user accounts.
The admin policies are ticked for read / send but deny field does show
a greyed tick.

I tried again and still no joy.

I tried logging onto the OWA with his credentials and it refused
access.
I reset the password and tried again. Still no joy.
I logged onto my local machine with his username which allowed access.
I set up Outlook and when adding his username it said "user does not
appear in addressbook"
Yet he does appear in active directory etc.

This is turning into a nightmare.

Great, that worked a treat. So I have adjusted 'administrator'
permissions, and had my fingers crossed.
I re-ran exmerge and still got the same error.

I used the Exmerge to create a pst and save it to the desktop on the
server (via remote desktop)
I reran Exmerge to import that pst into my mailbox.
I only asked me for the location of the pst to import (ie desktop) and
asked me which mailbox to import into.
I chose my mailbox, and hit merge.

Indeed pbrowning.pst doesn't exist

Shall I export a pst to the shared directory, then use outlook to
import it back? Or have I missed something?

another strange thing, is its not mailbox pbrowning I'm trying to
extract.
