Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>server>migration (more info?)

Looking for any help on this problem. It seems the Printer Migrator
utility works pretty well for the most part. However, I noticed that
after backing up printers and then restoring them using the utility, a
lot of previously available page sizes were no longer available.

For example, I installed a Xerox Phaser 7700. When printing to the
printer I had 30 page sizes to choose from. After restoring the
printer from a .cab created with Printer Migrator, only 10 were
available. Below is a list of the page sizes available on the Phaser
7700 before and after the restore:

This has been the situation with every printer I restore and backup
using Printer Migrator. It seems the only page sizes that remain are
fairly common sizes, and anything that is considered oversize or
uncommon is removed. Below is a list of page sizes that seem to always
remain after restore. Anyone seen this issue before?

Hi Nathan,

As my test, the issue is re-producable. I think it may be caused by the
drivers of the printer.

If we use the printer driver:

7700enw2kps.exe
ftp://ftp.tekcolor.com/ftp_dir/1059067868/2000/2.4.18/7700enw2kps.exe

We will encounter the problem.

I removed the driver and install the driver:

7700enw2kpsPMICC.exe from
ftp://ftp.tekcolor.com/ftp_dir/1059067868/2000/NA/7700enw2kpsPMICC.exe

All works fine.

Please remove the current driver and use the 7700enw2kpsPMICC.exe as the
printer driver. This should works.

Thanks for using Microsoft News Group!

Sincerely,
