Hi, I'm aware that you can download Office 2003 SP2 from the MS website but i
would like to have my WSUS server install it for my users? Why is it not
avaliable when i Syncronise WSUS?

I cannot find it in the lists to approve it.

Any ideas ?? THanks

Did you select Microsoft Office and Office 2003 as products to be synchronized
by WSUS in your Synchronization Options | Products and Classifications
configuration?

Yes , office sp1 is in the list and installed on all machines (as far as i
can tell) and other office updates are being installed and authorised ok. I
haven't ticked Exchange Server or SQL server as we only have one and are
maintaining that ourselves but the Office XP and Office 2003 option is
checked Yes.

I've read on the internet that some people have many versions of SP2 on
thier list and then they approve one and the next day it's been declined
automatically... as if there was a problem with WSUS and SP2 of office 2k3

Any help would be appretiated.

Thanks

Kevin

There were issues a couple of weeks ago with Office 2003 SP2, and it was
're-released' in the WSUS environment. The revision automatically
declined/expired the old listing, and if the WSUS server is configure to
'auto-approve' new revisions, then the new revision should have been
automatically approved according to the approvals assigned to the original
revision.

However, all of that is totally separate from the scenario of it not appearing
in the display at all.

Try this:
Go to Updates. In the left column, under filter criteria, select Custom.
Click on Change Custom View. In the Custom criteria, select "Office". In the
Approval block, select "All Updates", and in the Synchronized block select
"Any time". Click on apply.

Hi Lawrence,

It is still not in the list. I went to the Custom View bit and it had ALL
types checked.. I unchecked all but the office 2003 one. clicked apply and
got a filtered view of 49 updates...

The top one is Office 2003 SP1

i can see Office XP SP3 but not anything with Office 2003 SP2 in it...

I've actually downloaded it now manually so can i manually stick it
somewhere in my file system so it appears in WSUS? Or can i import it?

Thanks

Can you itemize for me exactly which options are selected in the
Synchronization Options | Products and Classifications selection boxes?

Thanks for your help Lawrence.

I have the following Ticked.
Office
Office 2002/xp
Office 2003
Windows
Windows 2000
Windows 2003 Server , Datacenter Edition
Windows 2003 Server
Windows XP 64-bit
Windows XP x64
Windows XP
But having looked at the Update Classifications i've only got Security
Updates and Critical Updates ticked... I didn't realise i could / needed to
change them... I'm assuming when i get back into work on monday the services
packs will be in the lists. Is there a help document that explains the other
options i could choose in the Update Classifications box? When i should use
them etc....

Thanks for all your help

Regards

Kevin
