Andrew, the specific issue revolves around whether the update can be
installed in an unattended mode. Because of the complications with Local
Installation Sources, it was decided to 'unpublish' the Office SP2 for AU
clients accessing Microsoft Update. Primarily this affects consumers who may
not have the awareness of the LIS issue, and as a result, was no doubt
creating a significant drain on PSS resources.
As for WUA/WSUS users, obviously there's still the issue that unattended
installations can be problematic. but the idea is that WSUS Administrators
probably have a bit more sophistication about this issue, and they can deal
with it internally as appropriate.
The only thing that changed was the publication points. The content is
unchanged, and if your clients have already successfully installed Office
2003 SP2, there is no reason to take any further action.
The message was posted here as a 'informative post' to WSUS Administrators,
so that we would know a new 'revision' was coming, and specifically what
it's effect was.
