Would like to know where to start when trying to save a users default printer
in active directory, so when users returns to the office their default
printer is reset to thier last known good default printer.

If anyone has ideas and or some scripts we can look at that would make our
day. We are not programmers, but on a mission.

Please help.

Thanks

When users take their computers to customer sites or home and install
additional printers we want to ensure that thier printers, we want to ensure
that the users have the correct printers setup. This prevents them from
opening a ticket with the help desk.

We are trying to get a better control over printers in general.

Thanks,

You can manage this with a desktop management tool. We use http://www.scriptlogic.com/da (Scriptlogic's Desktop Authority) product for managing our network printers and binding them to users or units. We define several rules so that the server will switch the user to another printer if some subnet becomes unreachable or someting else went wrong. We set several conditions thus performing something like fault-tolerant balancing. Try to grab the package to solve this task. The package is pretty small for such a feature-packed software so it won't take too long for you to dl it.
