Hello,
We curently have a primary NT4 controller running exchange server 5.5.
We plan to upgrade to windows 2003 and exchange 2003.
In order to make things slowly one after the other, is it possible to
set up a new domain controller (new machine) with windows 2003 and keep
the old server running NT4 and exchange 5.5 for a while ?
This is what we plan to do, assuming that the current PDC is machine A :
1) Install a fresh NT4 BDC on machine B
2) Promote B tp PDC
3) Upgrade B to Windows 2003
4) Install a fresh Windows 2003 on the new machine C
5) Synchronise C with B
6) Discard machine B
7) Keep going a while with exchange server 5.5 still on machine A (NT4),
until we know that C is configured ok and works well (we will not modify
any user account settings during this time).

Upgrade A to Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003
Does this sequence seem reasonable ? Can we keep compatibility with the
old server ?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Vincent
