I have loaded a clean intstall of NT 4.0 server standard
edition on a new server, installed SP6a and promoted the
server upto the role of PDC. According to instructions I
received from this users group I should now be able to
load the Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition CD and
perform an upgrade to 2003. When I do this I receive the
following notification:

Windows Setup does not support upgrading from Microsoft
Windows NT Server to Microsoft Windows Server 2003,
Standard Edition.
Setup cannot continue.

Any suggestions?

Hi Robert,

Thank you for posting!

Are these two copies (Windows NT Server Standard and Windows Server 2003
Standard) both retail versions?

Based on my experience, this error can occur if some OEM versions of CD is
in use. The CD provided by some OEM manufacturers can only be clean
installed. Upgrade is not an option for those CDs. You may contact the
manufacturer for more information about this.

Thank you!
