Post subject: NIC Teaming settings

Hi all,

I'm a trainee at Airbus in Toulouse, and I have to design an highly available Ethernet network for the A350. In the network, the user (the pilote) communicates with a server through a switch. To ensure high availability, I'd like to use two switches: an active switch, and a backup switch. So I will have two NIC's on the PC user, and two NICs on the server.
Is it possible to team the two NICs on the user and the server, to have an active NIC working with the active switch, and in case of a switch failure, to work with the backup NIC and the backup switch?
If yes, how to configure the active/backup configuration: directly on the OS? With the NIC's software? Is there a special configuration needed for the switch?

Thank you for your help.
