I'm testing migrating our NT domain to a Windows 2003 domain. I've
successfully used ADMT2 to copy the users to the new domain. Since I have a
trust setup between the domains, I tried copying (as administrator) files
from the source (NT) domain to the target (2003) domain over a network
share. The NTFS permission didn't come through.

I need to copy user and department directories. Should I use CACLS for
this, or is there something else to use? I only have 30 users and a few GB
of directories, but it would be a supreme pain in the a$$ to have to reapply
the NTFS permissions.

Many thanks,
Rob

Hello,

If the NTFS permission is set for "domain users" or "Domain Admins", you
have to reassign the permission. You can use the utility subinacl.exe.

Cause: the group "domain users" and "Domain Admins" are built in groups,
which do not migrate.

Thanks.
