Post subject: 1sy day in, I brought the network down...HELP

I was given a laptop & told to play with the config in order to work around the filtering that the company uses to restrict internet access. It connects to the network through a wireless router that is assigned an IP from the Server (the router then assigns IP addresses to each device that connect)

After doing so unsuccessfully for about 30 min I gave up and shut the laptop off. Suddenly everyone lost their internet connection. At this point, we can only maintain a connection by leaving the laptop on.

Any ideas what I might have done or where to look for answers so that I can remove the laptop for the pipeline to connect? I can provide any/all details about the network, server, etc. I am confident (but not absolutely certain) that I did not change anything on the Server (at least I didn't intentionally change anything). I did however poke and prod around in order to try to locate useful info .

Please help me with this.
thanks!
